South Point Casino gears up for Kentucky Derby with viewing party and expert seminar 3n4r4q21 April 2025(PRESS RELEASE) -- South Point Hotel Casino and Spa is thrilled to announce its plans for the Kentucky Oaks and the 151st running of the Kentucky Derby, inviting guests to two days of premier horse racing events. The celebration culminates in the annual Kentucky Derby Viewing Party on Saturday, May 3rd, relocating this year to the spacious Exhibit Hall, opening at 9:00 AM and continuing until the Derby concludes and all winning tickets are cashed. Attendees at the viewing party can conveniently place wagers at live betting stations and kiosks while enjoying food and drink specials, including traditional Mint Juleps and Woodford Spires. Adding to the excitement, the popular hat contest returns with $250 first-place and $100 second-place prizes in categories for Most Elegant, Best Horse Themed, and Best Fascinator or Fedora, with an additional $200 awarded for Best Overall; judging begins at 2:00 PM. The festivities kick off on Friday, May 2nd, with a Kentucky Derby seminar in the Grandview Lounge at 6:00 PM, hosted by Ralph Siraco and featuring expert handicappers Jon Lindo and Jon Hardoon; a live webcast will be available at www.southpointracebook.com for those unable to attend in person. South Point will showcase two days of exceptional racing, featuring seven graded stakes races on Friday and nine on Saturday, with over $16 million in total stakes purses.
