Table Mountain Casino over in California is well-known for its Massive Cash Jackpot, a surprise sum of money that can hit randomly, on any slot machine. You don't need to spin any specific combination on the reels – it's pure luck.

This week, a player by the name of Arnold bet a few bucks on the Lion's Law slot machine and managed to take home $86,963, which is a pretty nice chunk of change. The jackpot normally hovers somewhere between $50,000 and $150,000.

Our most sincere congrats to Arnold, of course, but we'd be lying if we said we didn't feel at least a little covetous.

4. Palms Casino Resort unveils Scotch 80 Prime steakhouse
Sometimes "important news" is just code for "stuff that makes us hungry."

In May, The Palms Casino Resort will open steakhouse Scotch 80 Prime as part of its $620 million renovation. Scotch 80 Prime deals in classic Las Vegas charm, offering guests delicious mesquite dishes and a curated selection of scotch, including rare and vintage spirits from Scotland.

A menu sample mentions certified Kobe beef, a mesquite crustacean tower, a caviar tower, and a banana split featuring hand-torched bananas, which is more than enough to pique our interest.

3. LVCVA reveals Las Vegas Convention Center expansion design
The Las Vegas Convention Center expansion project is coming along nicely, with recently released plans and drawings providing a look into what form the finished project will take. And that form is interesting, to say the least.

But, says tvdesign, the firm responsible for the project's design services, that's sort of the point.

Rob Svedberg, principal, tvsdesign, said, "Our biggest goal was to give Las Vegas a convention center that will be iconic, with a design that nods to all of the very unique architecture in the city's history, while also providing contemporary, cohesive design aesthetic across the entire property.

"Being iconic in Las Vegas is different than being iconic in other places, and we really want this building to be unique in the marketplace and provide something no other convention center can, while also having a strong identity, so that when someone sees it, they immediately know that it's the Las Vegas Convention Center."

This $860 million expansion will add 1.4 million square feet to the existing convention center, including about 600,000 square feet meant for exhibit space.

Phase two is projected to be finished in 2021, with the entire project wrapping up in 2023.
