TIPS ON CHOOSING AN INTERNET CASINO

With the vast number of Internet casinos from which to choose, what s a player to do? There is precious little objective information available. Most of what the majority of people know about particular online casinos is what they are told in advertising. But what value can we place on facts that are, to be quite honest, the best information that money can buy ?

The situation is ultimately complicated by the fact that the online casino gambling industry is unregulated and conducted under the auspices of bodies that do not necessarily place the best interests of the public at the top of the list. Internet gambling is second only to adult oriented sites in the profits that it generates. There is a tremendous amount of money to be made by the people who launch internet gambling sites.

Not that being profit motivated is necessarily bad. But the goods and services that the sites provide is restricted to the entertainment value they provide as well as the opportunity for players to win money. In other words, there is a lot of money being made by an elite group of Internet casino owners and operators.

With the number of online gambling casinos growing every day, there is tremendous competition for players. Every online casino, according to their own promotional teasers, offers the biggest bonuses, the best odds, and the broadest variety of games. But do they? They want your business and they ll do anything to grab your attention. Since they are not really held able for the claims they make, the ultimate judge and jury of whether they survive is the public they serve.

As I have mentioned, the only regulation in the Internet casino gambling industry has surfaced from within. The industry has done an irable job policing itself, but when it comes to choosing an online casino the most solid advice is Let the Player Beware.

The very medium over which people engage in online gambling can ultimately be their best friend. By searching the world wide web for online gambling related sites, chat rooms, independent sources, and all and any other objective information that is available, you ll be doing everything you can do assure yourself safe adventures into the myriad of cyberspace casinos.

With that said, I would like to offer some advice about how to narrow your search for an online casino. Investing the time, effort, and money it requires to investigate each online casino would prove to be a dauntless yet disappointing enterprise. The persistent law of diminishing returns will create an avalanche of questionable information that will bury any good you derive from your quest.

Which brings us to this undeniable and all- important truth: Even though there are hundreds upon hundreds of individual online casinos, there are but a select number of software providers. Even though the sites have different names and different looks, the vast majority of them are governed by the parameters and game characteristics that are given to them by the main software providers.

Therefore, our analysis of the sites will not center on the individual online casinos but rather on the software providers which make them work, govern the rules of play, and create different playing situations and climates. By zeroing in on distinguishing characteristics among the software providers, we ll then be able to focus on the casinos as groups rather than as individual sites.

It is also important to be aware of the fact that in isolated cases some software providers permit their license holders to modify the rules on the games they offer, such as number of decks used, so always be on the alert. Know the rules of every game you play before you invest your hard-earned money.

This book doesnt really cover much ground as far as internet gambling is concerned. A paragraph writeup on each of the 6 major gambling software providers and a brushup on the rules of the games. Thats for the casino part. The horse racing section gives a rundown on the different horse racing sites and some handicapping info. All in all I would rate this book 2 stars. The information is too general to be of much use.

There's no sure-fire way to beat internet gambling. All you can do is be prepared for what's out there and the traps to avoid. This book has it all. It'll get you started in a safe and informed manner. No cumbersome detail or nonsense about "tricks" that don't exist. Also, no boloney about beating the sites out of bonus cash. Brokopp lets you know there's a price to be paid for everything. If you're willing to devote hours of time to get $... bucks here or there, that's your business. This book is not about that. It's a common sense, get-started approach that's a quick and easy read. Also, the section on horse racing is outstanding. I look at that part of the book as an unexpected bonus.

Bottom line: there's not much to this book. Unless you're a horse race player, which I am not, there is very little useful information. Brokopp provides a few online casino URL's and some background information on the casinos, but there is really nothing in the book that couldn't be found easily on the Web (for nothing). Save your money and skip this book.

I have read a number of books on this topic, and Brokopp's is by far the best. I learned more and I learned it quicker than with anything else. I didn't buy the book looking for "secrets" to win. I wanted to know what internet gambling is all about and this book told me in concise, easy-reading form. Also, I'm a horse racing fan and the section on horse racing and the new ways to handicap and wager was very enlightening This book is not a gimmick. It's the real thing. No promises, just knowledge and advice. I'd recommend it to anyone.
